What is it?

Turtles All The Way Up investigates how one may live a chaotic good life in uncertain times. Together, we’re contemplating comedy and spirituality as a means to living as our authentic selves. I’m interested in observing folk traditions, long-lasting communities, and what constitutes “whimsy” across a rapidly changing America. This substack will also chart developments in busking and attempts to reintroduce ancient forms of clown into our modern day celebrations. In its dream form, this is a project documenting the strange corners of America through extended traveling.

Who am I?

I’m a non-binary comedic writer and performer excited by new experiences and personal transformation. I wrote and performed this solo-sketch show. Here’s an article about comedy and kink that gives a taste of the analysis I’d like to feature.

Topics may include but are not limited to:

The relationships between a comic and their community.
How to travel cheaply and without frills.
Sacred clowns and holy fools.
Explorations of modern comedy.
Explorations of ancient comedy.
Reports from the frontlines of foolery.
The spiritual optimism underlying anarchism.
Histories and analysis of attempts at utopia by eclectic communities and new religious movements.
The dream of an equitable comedy scene sustained beyond the current industry and institutional expectations.
